Indeed, we are at the age of travel. Similar to how agriculture, industrialization and technology revolutionized various eras. Convenient, fast and affordable flights have encouraged the human need to explore beyond the familiar. We no longer need heaps of money to make our dream of seeing the world a reality; all we need now is patience in finding the best deals in air travel.
Oh, budget airlines, how can I thank you in more ways than one? Despite your delayed schedule, luggage restrictions, optional meals and comforts to compensate for your cheap tickets, you remain to be the loyal companion of millions of travelers who are willing to stretch their budget at the expense of traditional flying (comfortable waiting lounges, meals and bottomless drinks, blankets and pillows, and tv and radio). Thank you, dear budget airlines, for allowing us to spend our flight savings in seeing different cultures much closer than we can afford once we’re on the ground. And most importantly, thank you for letting us spend time with out loved ones as frequent as our time permits.
You can imagine how thankful I was when I learned that Scoot, a Singapore-based budget airline, commenced flights a year ago connecting Singapore and major cities in Australia. Since my start of PhD program, I have traveled with Scoot 6 times and compared to my experience with Philippine-based budget airlines, Scoot exceeds my expectations.
Scoot operates Boeing 777 planes of which it inherited from its parent company, Singapore Airlines. Boeing 777 is larger and more roomy compared to the usual narrow-sized planes of most budget airlines. It has been delayed only once, based on my experience, and I find the cabin crew friendlier and more accommodating compared to the what I’ve experienced with other airlines in the past.
I highly recommend Scoot for your next flights not only between Singapore and Australia but also to other destinations. Check out their site for updated rates and routes.
Finally, they are celebrating their 1 millionth passenger. Head out to their booking site and check out the information on how to win cash prizes and roundtrip tickets. As their tagline says, “Let’s get outta here!”
